A GIS Municipal as applied to up-dating the General Plan for Palma de Mallorca
Keywords:
Sistemas de Información Geográfica, Plan General Municipal, Palma de MallorcaAbstract
For the author, the most relevant aspects of interest in the programming of the GIS here described are various. First, the easing of the task of drawing up the General Plan (approx. Structuring Plan) here studied by eliminating errors born of the multiform changes undergone to this during the period from its original inception, especially those turning upon areas surveyed, boundary changes and so forth. Such corrections once made and the Plan finally approved, a second challenge is here said to be met in making its bringing into force both adaptable and yet effective, be this when, at the municipal level, it must accommodate all the differing licensing procedures there pertinent, be this when dealing with the liberal professions, each in its proper field of discourse. Last, the simplification and effectiveness of the GIS must also embrace the constant incorporating and up-dating of information on planning permissions, licenses for building, population, land registration and cadastration that it might thus aid punctual planning, research endeavour and much else.
