Neighbourhoods constitute appropriate operating units to tackle, from the architectural, urban and human scale, some of the issues related to efficiency, environmental quality, social cohesion and sustainability that currently concern public entities and citizens. For its part, two-thirds of the population of Spanish cities today do inhabit in areas corresponding to consolidated peripheries, which seems in itself a compelling reason to focus on these urban environments. This article aims to propose a method of analysis that, taking the neighbourhood as the basic operational unit, can be used as an application in urban regeneration initiatives in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals. Consequently, we present a study focused on Soternes neighbourhood, in the 7th district of the city of Valencia, itself a result of the growth by extension of the city in the second half of the twentieth century.
