The first forty months in force on the Valencian Autonomous Government's Law governing town and country planning activities

The paper comments the overall statistical results consequent upon the three and a half years in force of the Valencian Town and Country Planning Law previously reported in CyT 112, Summer, 1997 revising and refining the same. All the programs undertaken are analyzed as to their number, extension, builder type, investment, etc., this being cross-referenced by province, land type and other germain factors. The upshot of said statistics is to reaffirm that Town and Country Planning activity is healthy within the Autonomous Region and that the programs born of said Law are proving themselves to be flexible tools for both administrating and undertaking schemes, that the process of liberalizing the market for building land seems to have taken root and that, from the data taken as a whole, the Law is both efficient and adaptable. The author does however draw attention to the scant competitivity as between alternative schemes and feels that this should be subject to incentives. The paper concludes that the Valencian model for Town and Country Planning activity not only favours initiatives in the sectors but has removed the knotty problem to making sufficient land readily available in the Region.
