Abstract

Inland rural environments have difficulties in local development processes due to the depopulation process and its effects on the territory. Based on the results obtained from a study carried out in two regions of the interior of the province of Valencia (Spain) carried out by the University of Valencia, lines of action were determined that revealed the existence of a link between the capacity of the territory rural to generate employment and the possibility to achieve the settlement of the population. Reflection is made on the fundamental elements that make this process so important, and the difficulties and possibilities that exist to overcome them are considered based on four posible settings.
