From the Land Act of 1975 to the latest Land and Urban Rehabilitation Act of 2015: a review of fifty years of continuous law production

The essential institutions that still make up the Spanish urban planning system come from the Land Act of 1975. This, in turn, inherited them directly from the Land Act of 1956. This information is extraordinary, since, after the promulgation of the Spanish Constitution, in 1978, urban planning became part of the bundle of exclusive powers of the Autonomous Communities. The federal legislator, however, has not stopped approving regulations on land, protected by its own constitutional titles, which, without being urban planning, allow it to influence said matter in a transversal way. From the first Law (1990), to the last one, currently in force (2015), the federal regulatory production encompasses a total of twelve Laws and is a good example of the most relevant political, economic and social changes in the country.
