Over these last few decades, numerous cities and metropolitan areas have converged in their interest in managing mobility and urban planning efficiently. Barcelona’s province, its metropolitan area, as well as the urban continuum of the city of Barcelona are not unrelated to this trend. Barcelona’s Metropolitan Transport Authority has created a Collective Passenger Transport Accessibility Index (Public Transport Accessibility Levels, PTAL) whose methodology and results are shown in this article. In this article, the methodology exposes the process that allows urban fabric and industrial fabric to be territorialized based on its quantitative and qualitative proximity to Collective Public Transport, thus detecting those areas where the convergence between urban and mobility planning guarantee excellent mobility as opposed to other areas where urban and mobility planning is conditioned by a null or scarce offer of Collective Public Transport.
