Abstract
INTRODUCTION. We specially intend to demonstrate the connection between the Ethics of liberation of Enrique Dussel and the liberating education of Paulo Freire. We try to show how both authors address the role of memory and of otherness. Thus, it is also deals with the conflict generated by a certain version of modernity that could promote the senselessness in Auschwitz over the emergence of new positive values. METHOD. We have done an extensive review in major databases (ERIC, Philosopher's Index, DIALNET, SSCI, SCOPUS) to outline some reasons and arguments for the thesis which is outlined in the introduction. The principal bibliographical references have been collected, have been ordered, have been interpreted and have been included in the final considerations of this work. We have addressed a thoughtful theoretical text that hopes to suggest the possibility of a new education and Modernity. RESULTS. A parallelism has been found in relation to the interaction and affinity between Dussel and Freire, in their analyzes and their responses. DISCUSSION. We hope to have suggested the rethinking of pedagogy and Modernity, from these two authors and others. This is a necessary and crucial task, with important theoretical and practical implications.
