In this article we analyze the presence of a Swords Dance in a visionary sermon by the Franciscan tertiary Juana de la Cruz (1481-1534). After explaining the theatricality of feminine mystical trances in the Late Middle Ages, we study the Swords Dance that appears in her Libro del conorte, performed by Christ and a chorus of angels and saints in Paradise: this dance is compared with other folkloric dances in the Iberian Peninsula and beyond.
