Seneca, Lucan, Literary Vitae, Epigrams, Alfonso the Tenth, Manuscript TransmissionAbstract
The aim of this work is to gather and analyze texts of biographical nature, both ancient and high medieval, related to the philosopher Seneca and his nephew Lucan, the poet. The material that constitutes the core of the study are the literary Vitae, both edited and unpublished in manuscripts linked to the activity of commentaries on the works of the authors. To these are added some epigrams that also touch on aspects of the authors’ biographies, and whose nature is heterogeneous, from the epigram of collection to the forged inscription.
