This paper presents as the comic hero the character of the Plautine comedy who, because of his vanity, blindness or stubborness, dissociates himself from his milieu and, besides, he is the obstacle or opponent within the economy of the play. The punishment of the comic heroe or his reintegration into society results in the happy union of the lovers. In opposition to this character the author deals with the slave, who never loses sight of reality and even when this reality becomes absurd, the slave´s adherence to logic and his capacity of adjustment alows him to survive within the irreality of the intrigue.
