This article offers new evidence on the biography and bibliography of Fernando Sánchez de la Pradilla, a second-rate humanist who was a disciple of Antonio de Nebrija. On the ground of a dubious quote by Pradilla, it is also discussed whether Nebrija might have been a pupil of Francesco Filelfo. The paper gathers and analizes all the information we hold about Nebrija’s stay in Italy, paying special attention to an almost unknown controversy between Galeotto Marzio and Francesco Filefo which Nebrija witnessed in Bologna.
