Can we propose a semantic classification of the Latin adjectives? Examination of the problem using Book I of Caesar’s Civil War

The "semantic" classes of adjectives are hardly satisfactory when one tries to apply them to a given corpus. This is explained, in our opinion, by the determining role of the regent noun. We think that the description of the semantics of adjectives must include the indication of the classes of regent nouns they admit. If one defines "semantic classes" of adjectives, it is advisable to do so taking into account only what, within its meanings in the discourse, depends on the semantics of its regent name and taking into consideration the possibility that the same semantic is performed in several levels, for example the temporal, the spatial and the notional.
