2D multichannel seismic profiles from the SW part of the Valencia Trough has allowed us to recognize the architecture of the main deltaic margin sequences deposited during the Pliocene and Quaternary. The sequential restoration of a representative geological cross-section has been made in order to determine the evolution of these sequences and to discuss the role played by the salt had in the stratigraphic configuration. The load associated with these sediments, up to 3000 meters thick in the external part of the platform, led to the rejuvenation of previous diapiric structures and the development of faults that sole in the underlying Triassic salt unit. Besides the changes of the sea level and climate, these suprasalt faults influenced the geometry and migration of the depocenters during the Pliocene and Quaternary. Therefore, salt tectonics plays key role on the architecture of prograding clinoforms.
