Abstract

This text presents the translation into Spanish of an article by Maurice Halbwachs, originally published in French in 1944, which contains a lecture given by the sociologist disciple of Durkheim, at a congress on statistics held in 1935. This presentation highlights the originality of a part of the work of Halbwachs and its importance to think about the relationship of the social sciences with statistics. The translated text has guided a way of thinking about the scientific nature of the tools used by the social sciences. In that same sense, Halbwachs recovers a part of the reflections made by François Simiand and the broad ones, thus providing us with very valuable instruments for a controlled and reflexive use of statistics for work in the social sciences.
