Culturalidad, representación y autorepresentación

Los autores han elaborado en su centro de investigación un marco de referencia que abarca identidades y conflicto. El marco analítico desarrollado distingue tres niveles de extensión diferentes: la actuación del individuo, del grupo y de la comunidad. Sobre estos tres niveles se construyen identidades basadas en tres dimensiones: personalidad, socialidad y culturalidad. El modelo que proponen es deliberadamente no esencialista, dinámico y múltiple; y ha sido utilizado en una serie de descripciones (de América Latina a Europa: Pinxten & Verstraete, 1998; Pinxten, Verstraete & Longman, 2004). El marco de referencia analítica es necesariamente previo a cualquier análisis ideológico, puesto que los discursos sobre la identidad (cultural en particular) forman ya parte integral de la vida política actual.
