La negociación del TTIP: del interregionalismo a la gobernanza global

En este artículo se expone, desde el punto de vista teórico, por qué la negociación entre la Unión Europea y Estados Unidos para una Asociación Transatlántica de Comercio e Inversión (TTIP, por sus siglas en inglés) podría ser un parteaguas en el campo de las relaciones internacionales. Más allá de la importancia de un acuerdo comercial entre las dos principales potencias económicas del mundo,un eventual acuerdo cambiaría las relaciones internacionales en su conjunto. Asimismo, reubicaría en el centro de las reflexiones las relaciones entre grandes regiones del mundo y no solamente entre países. Por último, obligaría a las otras potencias a definirse en función de las normas acordadas entre los dos socios del TTIP, normas que van más allá del comercio y de la inversión. Un paso adelante entre Europa y Estados Unidos significaría,por ende, un paso adelante para la gobernanza mundial, aun sin los objetivos de esta gobernanza quedan por definir.
