Military revolutions: the case of China

Abstract

The paradigm of military revolutions is a tool for analyzing the relationship between ideological, institutional, economic, sociological and technological, on the one hand and the degree of development of political and military power of the States, on the other hand. This article provides an adaptation of this paradigm and review the situation in China, as a case study. The final goal is an approach to his actually capacities as candidate, either, to regional hegemony or to counterbalancing the power in the international system. The conclusions reflect significant deficits in many of the points discussed and show that China still has a huge way to go, despite the good economic performance of recent years.
