Abstract

This paper deals with a pilot study on a mentoring process, designed and applied as a formative experience for the improvement of competences in Professional Guidance with students of the Master's Degree in Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching (specialization in Educational Guidance) and students of the 3rd year of the Degree in Pedagogy at the University of Salamanca. The study, of a pre-experimental pre-posttest nature, has a casual participant sample or by accessibility (13 mentors-students of the Master's Degree and 8 mentored-students of the Degree in Pedagogy), which is trained to carry out a continuous process according to the needs of the work group. After the application of the mentoring process, we proceed to inferential analyses that show an improvement in favor of the mentoring process in both groups linked to the competences in professional guidance, while the descriptive analysis of satisfaction returns high levels of this variable. It is evident that participation in the mentoring process is an interesting formative experience for Master's students, who put into practice counseling processes, and for undergraduate students, favoring decision making in relation to the different training options of the degree.
