Abstract

This paper analyses the proposals of scientific and didactic education in experimental sciences by Science Teacher Educators, and the presence of inquiry-based science education in their proposals. The answers are from teachers (n=77) of the Degree in Primary School Education from twenty Spanish universities, collected through a questionnaire with four open questions. The proposals show that the scientific contents most frequently presented are those related to the parts of the Science of Nature subject in Primary Education (Matter and Energy, Human Being and Health, Living Beings).  The didactics contents most proposed are those referred to methodologies and students, such as previous ideas and difficulties in science learning. Science-Technology-Society questions and Nature of Science are also present in the Educators’ answers, for both subjects. Finally, the preference for inquiry as a methodology of science education for pre-service teachers stands out, both for science or didactic training. Several variables, such as teaching experience or type of teaching are analysed as factors related to the choice of inquiry.
