Research focused on the diagnosis of coexistence within our educational environments is increasingly relevant when undertaking measures to improve the school environment in our schools. Its importance lies in knowing what the perception of conflict is in order to implement programmes leading to the resolution of the conflicts that arise. Therefore, the aim of this work is to find out how students perceive one of the most common conflicts, verbal violence. The research methodology is of a quantitative nature with a non-experimental design based on a validated Likert type questionnaire. The analyses carried out are of a descriptive and inferential statistical type. The population is made up of 220 students in compulsory secondary education (ESO) in a state-subsidised centre in Malaga (Spain). The results indicate the existence in the classroom of a significant level of verbal violence among students and, to a lesser extent, from students to teachers, always from the students' perspective. It is concluded that direct verbal violence between students and teachers can be tackled with the implementation of school peer mediation, a tool that is proposed as an appropriate formula for positive conflict management.
