Abstract

This article studies the landscape legislation in Italy and its instruments of protection and enhancement. It analyzes the procedures for landscape individualization. In addition, the regulatory framework governing the joint landscape planning system, as well as the relationship of these plans with the rest of land use planning, is also considered. Moreover, the main monitoring instrument, the landscape authorization, is studied. Previously, competence and institutional framework is considered. From all this, a number of conclusions are drawn including proposals to enhance the Spanish model of landscape protection.
