Abstract

Over the past xx Century sixties and seventies, urban-residential typologies on the coast
of Alicante have experienced significant changes; changes linked largely to the development of
tourism. The aim of the paper is to show which kind of urban-residential typologies are located on
the coast of Alicante and in what areas are mainly one or the other, as well as what major territorial
implications are associated with them. To this aim urban uses have been scanned to calculate the
in use area and estimate which types dominate. One of the main conclusions is that there isn’t a
single residential model. We can prove also remarkable differences between residential models in
the north and south coast of Alicante.
