Urban vulnerability is a multidimensional concept that must be addressed holistically The complexity of its analysis lies in the diversity of data that represent inequality, its intensity, and the territorial scope where it occurs. A multifactorial analysis methodology is developed to detect vulnerable areas at the sub-municipal entities for the 3247 census sections of the 164 municipalities of the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona, which synthesizes information by eliminating redundancies. The rurality component is incorporated to adapt the analysis to the specific characteristics of each territory. This methodology evaluates the degree and particularities of vulnerability in each area, thus facilitating the formulation of customized solutions that respond to the concrete needs of each territorial scope for decision-making in urban planning and the design of public policies aimed at improving resilience and equity in cities.
