Abstract

Civic education should make possible an educated society. It has to have the capacity to convert itself into a society that moralises and educates. The movement of volunteer services may have a special impact on our schools, making possible a true task of moral, civic, political and social education, as well as of reform and scholastic renovation. In order to do so, the civic education must be eminently practical, being necessary to do projects that promote the democratic and civil participation of the student body and of the own school community, at the time that a major civic commitment with the the near community reality. A possible route for it is to link narrowly learning curricular and community service in an alone social, educational and solidary shared activity: the learning-service.
