  • Special issue on transformative economies, a miscellaneous article, and book reviews

    The issue 34(4) of the Spanish Journal of Sociology features a collection of manuscripts on alternative economic initiatives. This compilation includes: a) an introduction to the notion of transformative economies; b) a study of an inclusive recycling model in Argentina, which has become an international benchmark for public-community experiences; c) a research into the conflicts between tradition and technology that are redefining the relationship between farmers and consumers; d) an ethnography of a cooperative network competing with large delivery platforms; and e) an analysis of three community initiatives that are reinventing the way we provide care. Additionally, the issue includes an article on attitudes toward gender equality among public administration employees. The issue is completed by two book reviews.

    The issue 34(3) of the Spanish Journal of Sociology presents six miscellaneous articles. The first demonstrates that remote work enhances workplace autonomy when accompanied by horizontal communication structures. The second examines the representation of female authors in academic Sociology programs. In the third, the authors surveyed 10,534 university students to evaluate the prevalence of sexist attitudes and behaviors. The fourth provides quantitative and qualitative analysis of public opinion regarding arms shipments to Ukraine. The fifth investigates the discursive frameworks employed by political parties concerning the demographic crisis and reproductive revolution. The sixth examines whether young people are increasingly gravitating toward right-wing political orientations. Finally, the issue concludes with a review of Josep Picó's work.

    The issue 34 (2) of the Spanish Journal of Sociology includes a special issue on economic sociology with four articles: a) the Meaning of money, b) new forms of money that can foster freedom, c) the experience of being in debt, and d) why young people don’t turn to banks for financing. In addition, it features six miscellaneous articles. The first examines whether a self-proclaimed feminist government corresponds in practice to its policies and outcomes in Mexico. The second seeks to understand older adults’ loneliness, its influencing factors, and coping strategies. The third analyzes how social media amplify xenophobic discourse. The fourth study explores the professionalization or proletarianization of university faculty. The fifth investigates the effect of teaching styles on the relationship between socioeconomic status and academic performance. The sixth article demonstrates that conceptions of health vary significantly among indigenous peoples, migrants, and members of the Roma community

    The issue 34(1) of the Spanish Journal of Sociology features five miscellaneous articles covering: (a) the role of special individuals in reducing stress among women scientists, (b) the influence of political preferences on romantic attraction and rejection, (c) emotions in human-dog relationships, (d) family identity transformations with the arrival of companion animals, and (e) the rise of political parties capitalizing on voter dissatisfaction in regions experiencing institutional marginalization. Moreover, this issue includes three articles on the floods in Valencia, discussing their impact on employment, the significance of vulnerability, and future research directions in Sociology. Finally, the issue presents a book review on the globalization of art.

    The 33(4) issue of the Spanish Journal of Sociology (RES) features an editorial addressing the role of sociology in defining and managing catastrophes, particularly in light of the tragic floods in Valencia, Spain. The issue also includes an in memoriam dedicated to Julio Carabaña, sociologist and former Spanish Journal of Sociology editor. Furthermore, this edition presents three research articles: a) an analysis of survey data on the experience of pain, b) a qualitative analysis of teleworking based on interview data, and c) a study examining the strategies employed by victims of racist incidents.

    The 33(2) issue of the Spanish Journal of Sociology (RES) features two miscellaneous articles, an analysis of the need to renew Sociology programs, and a study on hate speeches. Additionally, the RES presents a special issue on migrant children's well-being, encompassing articles on the significance of peer groups, cross-country comparisons within Europe, and interview-based studies with children and teenagers. Moreover, we include another special issue titled "Crisis, social Transformation, and uncertainty", offering articles on coaching and self-help, conspiracy theories, protests, student inequalities, risk-assessment algorithms, and support programs for the homeless. Furthermore, it includes the special issue "The Vulnerability of Territories," with articles on community initiatives in urban agriculture, the sustainable future of cities, trends in employment, deprivation and health in urban and rural areas, rural well-being and mobility, and migration and youth. The issue is rounded out with 5 research articles on affective polarization, family participation in school education, emotions of young people in online environments, peer review in philosophy, and the influence of work on identity.

    The 32(4) issue of the Spanish Journal of Sociology includes the special issue "Roots and Arrangements: Care, Well-being, and Vulnerabilities in Major Ibero-American Cities". Additionally, this issue presents research articles on territorial development, how entrepreneurial women manage their time, the care for relatives after suicide, people's opinions on anti-pollution policies, and an analysis of the discourses of men who patronize prostitution.     The 32(2) issue 32(2) of the Spanish Journal of Sociology includes articles on elites in Spain, education and ideology, attitudes towards people with disabilities, and a debate on perceptions in times of pandemic. Additionally, this issue includes a monographic section with three articles: 1) the first one on the revision of the concept of "equity" in the regulations and actions of the educational administrations of the different autonomous communities of Spain; 2) the second one analyzes the inclusive practices developed by teachers in schools with a high percentage of students from diverse cultures; 3) and the third one presents different models for understanding cultural diversity in geographically close areas but separated by the Strait of Gibraltar, with a different historical relationship with immigration.
