Abstract

In the new phase of the spatial mobility of the postindustrial society, the fundamental motive of the migrations has passed of being work and studies to another new type of motivations relative to changes, in radical occasions, of manners of life. In this way, the new rural immigrants affect the composition of the structure of rural communities more or less breaking in many cases the homogeneity of rural settings and proposing a new scene that has to be determined, measured and valued in regard to policies of rural development. The characterization of these new rural settlers, his process of adjustment and the motivations of his accession are object of analysis in this article, product of an empirical investigation developed in two paradigmatic regions of Estremadura (Spain): The Villuercas and Sierra de Gata.
