Happiness and its components. Exploitation of the world barometer of happiness 1999
Abstract
In this paper, we shall examine the concept of Happiness and its insertion in the empirical social research, which takes place through the aspiration-adjustment model and the setting of the most influential issues on individual happiness. The World Happiness Barometer, based on 22,500 interviews in 22 countries, has been worked on in three ways. First of all, a descriptive analysis of the Spanish data has been made, comparing it with data from Western Europe and World countries. Moreover, the study of correlation and the factor analysis of Spanish data has driven us, on the one hand, to establish the relationships among specific indicators and, on the other hand, to group the indicators in two dimensions (economic and affective). Finally, an ecological factor analysis of the countries’ sample has been carried out, showing similar relationships to those from the Spanish data.Downloads
