The Montañas do Courel UNESCO Global Geopark has Paleozoic paleontological sites ranging from the Cambrian to the Carboniferous. At present, a process of searching and cataloging deposits with Paleozoic marine fossils is being carried out, which has generated a database, which has allowed and will allow them to be valued, and improve their protection and preservation. In addition, through the musealization of some of the fossils of the geopark in the Geological Museum of Quiroga, one of the objectives of the geopark is fulfilled, which is the approach of Geology to society.
