Abstract

The aim of this text is to review the life and legacy of the recently deceased Enric Porqueres, a Catalan anthropologist and Director of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. A tribute to a researcher who developed most of his work in France devoted to the study of the anthropology of kinship, especially the symbolic relationship between kinship and identity. The author summarizes Porqueres' life through his own friendship and professional synergy, highlighting the anthropologist's scientific contribution
