Abstract

Society is increasingly involved in the image culture. It has become a true language itself, composed by ideological frameworks, symbols and meanings, which sets up a complete discursive structure naturalized by individuals. Concerning the subject of sexuality, it outstands that pornographic images have been present in people’s intimacy all throughout history. Both internet and new technologies development have boost the porn industry to the private sphere, becoming easily available. This research analyses the widespread representation of both sex and sexuality in mainstream and girlfriendly on-line porn and how it serves a unique viewer, the masculine voyeur, building up a gender-sexualized and hetero-normative imaginary. To do so, a methodological articulation has been applied bringing together audio-visual documental analyses (representation analyse) and classical qualitative methods using group discussions (perception analyse). Therefore, the main goal focuses on exploring and understanding the interaction between sexuality representations consumed by the subjects and their discursive positions to legitimate the sexual discourse they sustain.
