Abstract

This essay classifies thematically some of the classical abolitionist arguments on the status of agency in the practice of prostitution, which are discussed afterwards. Firstly, it is exposed and objected the sale of the body in its determinist version. In the second section, we reflect along with the corpus of ideas that problematize the consent of women who practice prostitution. Next, it is exposed the creation of numbers or statistical strategy. In fourth place, the argument related to the structural constraints is nuanced, in order to defend the existence of a continuum instead of the usual dichotomy between free and forced prostitution. This allows to recognize both agency and vulnerability in the frame of prostitution.
