Abstract

This interview with José Manuel Valenzuela, a Mexican sociologist and one of the great experts in the study of youth movements in Latin America and the United States, looks back at the beginnings of research with young people from a historical perspective that began in the early 1980s. From an autobiographical point of view, this dialogue with Valenzuela also allows us to understand the ways in which youth dynamics express broader social processes and to warn about a reductionism of youth that is not very fruitful.
