Abstract

Our lives are developed in an increasingly complex and changing environment where the important thing is "what you are" above the "who you are". Knowing how to adapt to these changes is an indispensable condition for the survival of a middle class that is seeing as the basic pillars of their identity are faltered. With this situation, It is given more value to different mechanisms of socialization that help this social stratum to cope with the different transformations undergone in the last decades.

Esteban Hernández reflects in his work how the social reality of the so-called middle class is changing and highlights how the way of thinking, feeling and behaving in this social stratum is evolving. He focuses mainly on the occupational sector of people since it is a good mechanism to "place" people in one or another social class.
