Racialization and normalization of racism in the far right: a case study on Vox, immigration, and migrant minors in X

This paper addresses, from an anthropological perspective, an analysis of the racist narratives disseminated by Vox on X. The study is a case analysis based on the discourses promoted by the party following its announcement of breaking government agreements with the PP, due to the redistribution of migrant minors across various autonomous communities (July 2024). The anthropological approach focuses on the interpretation of meanings, in this case, by observing digital communicational interactions on the analyzed social network. To this end, the research first develops the theoretical framework, examining the intrinsic elements of the logic of racism in comparison to other forms of differentiation and social exclusion. Secondly, it describes the methodological design followed and the techniques employed. Subsequently, the results of the study are analyzed, with special attention to how racialization processes operate in the party's representations of immigration in general and, particularly, of migrant minors, emphasizing moments when these representations adopt Islamophobic undertones. Finally, the article offers a discussion on the logic underpinning racism in Vox's narratives within digital spaces.
