Las regiones en la Unión Europea: procesos y paradigmas

Existe un consenso importante sobre que las regiones han perdido atractivo en los asuntos europeos. Este hecho nos conduce a la siguiente paradoja: mientras que la metáfora de la «Europa de las Regiones» que tanto resonó en la década de los noventa ha sido desacreditada, al mismo tiempo el grado del compromiso regional con la UE crece constantemente. Hoy en día, la UE está sometida a una crisis que no es solo económica y financiera, sino también democrática. Por lo tanto, parece oportuno rescatar los estudios sobre el papel de las regiones en el sistema de gobernanza europeo. Este trabajo se propone, por un lado, hacer un repaso de la evolución del papel de las regiones en el sistema de gobernanza europeo y, por el otro, explorar la forma en que las regiones han sido capturadas por la literatura de la integración europea. Su objetivo final es entender cuáles son las perspectivas futuras para las regiones en el proceso de integración europea.
