Make America Great Again: ¿expresión de un nativismo blanco contemporáneo?

El nativismo ha estado presente en el pensamiento político estadounidense desde la fundación del país en el siglo XVIII, y la política de Donald Trump se identifica con esta perspectiva nativista. En este contexto, el nativismo contemporáneo estadounidense ofrece dos aspectos que cabe analizar: a) el resurgimiento del nativismo blanco para recuperar «América» y b) el hecho de que esta perspectiva se ejecute explícitamente desde la Casa Blanca. El estudio del nativismo tiene relevancia académica porque es necesario explicar los fundamentos políticos que dotan de sentido a la Administración Trump en un entorno global donde avanzan los proyectos políticos de conservadurismo y ultraliberales. Ello es importante, a su vez, por el imperativo de identificar los potenciales impactos y consecuencias que tendrá el nativismo blanco tanto en Estados Unidos como en la política mundial en los próximos años.
