Estados Unidos e Israel, de la alianza a la simbiosis

La relación de Israel con Estados Unidos ha ido evolucionando de la alianza durante la Guerra Fría a la simbiosis en la actualidad. La política norteamericana hacia Oriente Medio ha estado marcada por el interés en el petróleo, a la que se ha ido sumando la creciente relación con Israel. Sin embargo, mientras que durante mucho tiempo los intereses compartidos con Arabia Saudí y otros países árabes moderaron la política estadounidense y equilibraron un poco su apoyo a Israel, en los últimos años la alianza con Israel ha pasado a dominar la estrategia de Washington. Esto se ha reflejado en la invasión de Irak y en las tensiones con los países árabes. La razón de esta evolución hay que buscarla, principalmente, en la influencia que han ganado Israel y los grupos de presión prosionistas en la política doméstica de Estados Unidos.
