Abstract

This article approaches the question of monarchy in Carl Schmitt’s thought. The topic is addressed from the point of view of political and constitutional legitimacy. Furthermore, some notions relevant to the issue under analysis, including the modern State, constituent power, identity and representation, are considered. Finally, the study focuses on its main subject, the monarchy, and Schmitt’s evaluation of this form of State at the turning point of the contemporary epoch.
