Abstract

During several years Spain has developed an administrative policy supporting national film industry. The paper explores the effects that regulatory ammendments of this administrative policy have provoked on nuclear elements of film industry, such as market share or economic results of films. The results show a strong inverse tendency between amount of state aid and public acceptance of films and consequently, better economic results. In other words, public funding exhibits an adverse distorting effect on economic behaviour of Spanish film production. This element does suggest a reformulation of administrative mechanisms of state aid on film industry.
