Abstract

Latina America has been a fertile ground for utopias. Since the end of 19th century and during 20th century many colonies, religious and polical ones, have taken root in the Region. In a very small and unknown country as Paraguay, there have been five communities with projects in the margins of the State and the market. We know of their existence because all of them have been investigated and analyzed through differente types of narratives and stories. They constitute a very interesting symbolic capital, somehow a self-management tradition, that might be useful for contemporary communitarian experiences. Although, silence has been the case. Most of them have been considered as aborted experiences, confusing discontinuity with failure. This is the main point of this essay: I want to know if there is a relation between the narrative structure of those stories on utopias and the failed transmission of their memories. Somehow I displace the focus from the contents of the stories to the form they organize information.
