Cultural landscapes we are here told are increasingly taking a major role in postindustrial country planning,
and an intelligent use of these same has become an important factor for and within development. The paper
offers the Riverside Park of the Llobregat Colonies (Parque Fluvial Colonias del Llobregat) as a case in
point to thus draw attention to a mode of intervention that answers to the complex nature of such areas. Traditional
preservation of cultural resources by means of restrictive and scheduled zoning is said to here give
way to a more dynamic focusing in on the question. This new approach is felt to rightly demand a comprehending
of any cultural landscape as a network of intermeshed resources in which, after the overall physical
structure has been once determined and a strategic understanding has been drawn from the same, an
a interrelated listing of minor initiatives can be undertaken almost immediately in the light of these same.
