This article aims to take a cross-sectional look at some strategies that allow us to address the process of rural depopulation. To this end, after a contextualization, this study is structured into two parts: one that addresses taxonomic methodological approaches (Taxonomy of Location Patterns, Population, and Geographic Units), and a second part that raises fundamental instrumental issues to consider in order to develop territorial strategies. Both the methodological approach and the complementary instrumental perspectives follow a common argumentative discourse that allows them to be interrelated. The document provides some reflections and tools for the rural development of our territories in search of a better quality of life in these environments.
