Abstract

The environment in which universities develop is highly complex, changing and demanding; this is the reason why universities are building on profound changes and innovations. We present research of this and the main objective consist of characterising the relationships and dynamics that take part in the processes of change, starting with the analysed organisational culture in Tomàs et al. (2006), in order to propose a model of analysis of the variables explaining the innovation in universities. The methodological design has consisted of six-case studies which represent innovations of different range, nature and moment of development. One of the main research outcomes is a model of analysis based on the following variables: origin, leadership, phases, values, resistance and obstacles, impact and financing of the innovation. The model might be used for several purposes since it allows describing, analyzing and comparing the university’s innovations.
