Few themes like death –shocking and fascinating at the same time– are so transversal and frequent in the works and authors of the middle centuries. This article tries to link and justify the different contributions published in this Journal monographic issue, establishing the common theoretical base that underlies the theme of the representation of Death in Western Medieval Literature.
