We wanted to show, inductively, some typological components of the tale, in the light of three chapters from the Conde Lucanor (CL26, 43, 48) and the tale no 28 in the Libro de los gatos. We have insisted in particular on the notion of equilibrium (with the characterization of the opposite type of «bad storyteller»), on the folk substrate base story (with the study of the type AT613 «two companions or travelers»), and on the arts of Memory, practiced by the writer. The story CL26 positioned Truth in the tree roots, the real foundation of life, unlike the Lie which is essentially corruption. A fable of Phaedrus, cited at the end of the study, develops the same concept.
