The reconciliation of work and family life as a project of quality of life from equality

Abstract

The European political project emphasizes the quality of the paid work, in which it includes the principle of equality and conciliation measures with family life. Here, it is reflected on relation between: work/family conflict, gender approach and quality of life. Thus, this paper analyses the meaning of ‘conciliation’ by mean the revision and exploitation of secondary sources. The proposed hypothesis makes up three levels: individual well-being (psycho-social approach), interest by the human capital (enterprise) and equality of opportunities (gender perspective).

Author Biography

Natalia Papí Gálvez, Universidad de Alicante

Licenciada en sociología en 1999 con premio extraordinario por la UA. Doctora por la Universidad de Alicante con la tesis «La conciliación de la vida familiar y laboral en la prensa diaria de la Comunidad Valenciana: el «punto de vista» de las mujeres» y profesora del Departamento de Sociología II de la Universidad de Alicante desde octubre del 2001. Fue becaria de investigación por la Dirección General de la Dona (1999) y posteriormente disfrutó de una beca FPI por la UMC. Ha colaborado en varias investigaciones I+D relacionadas con los estudios de género, con varias publicaciones centradas en esta línea de trabajo.
