The reflection of sport in media in Spain
Abstract
This paper aims to study the social representation of sport in Spanish media. The research is based in a content analysis developed between April 1st and April 15th 2.002 on the main Spanish media, in newspapers (Marca, El País, El Mundo), radio (El Larguero, SuperGarcía and Radio Gaceta de los Deportes) and television (Telediario Primera Edición, Noticias 1, by Antena 3 and Informativos Telecinco 14:30). Results shows that the structure, dynamics and themes developed in Spanish media about sport are conforming four distinct and hegemonic models providing information about sport in Spain. These models cannot reflect, by far, the many aspects actually present in sport as a social phenomenon.Downloads
