Press and economic cycles. Surveys, statistics and content analysis
Abstract
This methodological article, compares three different approaches at the time of approaching the longitudinal analysis of the economic cycles. The objective of this paper is to provide a tool of analysis compared by means of the analysis of measured economic trends through three different sources for period 1980-2000 and in the scope of the Region of Valencia: surveys of opinion, statistics of economic conjuncture and analysis of the newspapers and valuations on the economy in press. The main conclusion is that the economic news direct the sense of the valuation of the opinions gathered in the surveys. This relation between the different types from information allows to speak of an indirect and negative relation between the sign of the economic news (and surveys) and economic the statistical cycles.Downloads
