Reflections on the present and future of sociology

Abstract

Tecnological revolution causes multiple social tensions and disorders, which give a new role to Sociology. This paper analyzes the present situation of Sociology in Spain as well as its future trends. In such a context, it is claimed the need to maintain serious debates on basic topics, the urgency to update the sociological explanation paradigns and the pertinency to design scenaries for the most relevant social tendencies in the future.

José Felix Tezanos Tortajada, UNED

Catedrático de sociología y director del Departamento de Sociología III (Tendencias Sociales) de la UNED. Ha publicado 25 libros sobre cuestiones relacionadas con la teoría sociología, la estratificación social y las tendencias sociales, siendo director del mensual Temas para el Debate y editor de la revista Sistema. Dirige también, desde sus inicios, la Fundación Sistema, donde ha coordinado e impulsado diferentes foros e investigaciones sobre el futuro.
