Lecciones de la austeridad: un análisis del impacto de género de la Gran Recesión en España y Portugal

Este artículo analiza el impacto de género de la Gran Recesión sobre dos países del Sur de Europa, Portugal y España, examinando los cambios en el patrón de la participación laboral de las mujeres y sus implicaciones desde el punto de vista de la igualdad de género. Pertenecientes a priori al mismo régimen de bienestar mediterráneo, la crisis económica y financiera tuvo no obstante impactos muy diferentes desde el punto de vista del equilibrio de género en el mercado de trabajo, rompiendo la ilusión de una convergencia hacia el modelo generalizado de trabajador universal (“double-earner”) en Europa. Se extraen también consecuencias sobre el giro de las políticas europeas para luchar contra los efectos macroeconómicos de la crisis, que propició el olvido de los objetivos de igualdad de género por la UE y los gobiernos nacionales, y se reflexiona sobre su validez para afrontar la actual crisis del COVID-19.
